Product photography emphasizing form, function, and light behavior.

Objects as Icons is a product photography study that treats everyday items as sculptural forms. Stripped from branding and context, each object is framed to emphasize geometry, materiality, and light behavior—transforming tools into icons.
Visual Intent
The goal was to photograph designed products not as utilities, but as resolved forms. Items were placed in minimal environments and lit for shadow articulation, edge clarity, and surface contrast. Every shot asks: what makes this object feel intentional?
Key Visual Strategies
Monochromatic Backdrops: Used greys, blacks, and neutral tones to isolate product form and color.
Low Key Lighting: Employed directional soft light to define silhouette and microtexture without glare.
Tight Crops + Negative Space: Balanced intimacy and scale through shadow depth and object placement.
Shadow Play: Cast defined drop shadows to create grounding and sculptural weight.
Subjects Captured
Everyday tools (stationery, kitchenware, tech objects)
Material finishes: matte ABS, brushed metal, frosted glass
Abstract angle studies of mundane items: clips, cables, blades, remotes
Result
Objects as Icons reframes familiar things as design statements. It pauses function and foregrounds form—asking the viewer to see not just what the object does, but how it holds space.
